The scope of study: the area which is known as "Near East" includes Anatolia and Egypt in the west through the Levant, henceforth the areas of modern states of Israel, Lebanon, Jordan, and Syria west of Euphrates to Mesopotamia north east of the Euphrates and Iraq. Furthermore the geographical scope of Near East extends into Iran. It should be taken into consideration that Kurdistan is an essentail area of the" Near East" and accordingly is an important field of the "Ancient Near Eastern Studies" also.

The approach of Ancient Near Eastern Studies is to study the civilizations, cultures, languages, ethnics, and religion of Ancient Near East,
